iPod Mini Take Apart Directions

iPOD Mini Take Apart Guide

Step 1
You will need the following tools for this take apart
  • A Small Flat Blade Screw Driver
  • A Hair Dryer
  • A Pair of Needle Noise Plyers

    Using the hair dryer on the bottom of the ipod you want to warm it up enough in order to loosen the glue that is holding the bottom plastic bezel on.

  • Step 2
    Once the glue is heated you can use a small flat blade screw driver to remove the bezel on the bottom.
    Step 3
    As you remove the bezel please be sure not to damage the tabs on the bezel.
    Step 4
    Here is the bezel after it has been removed and cooled down.
    Step 5
    Using the hair dryer on the Top of the ipod you want to warm it up enough in order to loosen the glue that is holding the Top plastic bezel on.
    Step 6
    Once the glue is heated you can use a small flat blade screw driver to remove the bezel on the Top.
    Step 7
    As you remove the bezel please be sure not to damage the tabs on the bezel.
    Step 8
    Here is the bezel after it has been removed and cooled down.
    Step 9
    On the bottom of the unit by the connector there is a retainer ring that is holding the internals in the shell. Using some needle nose plyers you will need to pinch the two rings in which will release the retainer.
    Step 10
    Here you can see the retainer removed from the bottom of the unit.
    Step 11
    On the bottom of the unit you will now need to lift the connector up as seen in the picture.
    Step 12
    You can now start to slowly push the internals of the ipod up and out of the shell.
    Step 13
    If the internals hang or get caught go slow and take a look inside to see what is getting caught.
    Step 14
    Here you see the internals removed from the shell. This will give you access to the lcd screen, battery and more. To put the unit back together please follow the directions in reverse.
