The team at DirectFix.com doesn’t waste any time on learning more about the new iPhone 6. Within a few hours of the phone’s release, the team had already taken the iPhone apart and began to dig into the components. We are proud to share our investigation with you in the form of a 28 minute YouTube video. Our video shows you step by step how to disassemble the phone and repair internal components like the motherboard, the battery and the screen along with many other parts followed by instructions on how to reassemble your phone after repairing or replacing. According to our experts, repairing the iPhone6 is quite similar to repairing the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone5c. Most manufacturers won’t warranty a broken screen. So, if you have recently purchased your iPhone and already experienced the screen breaking, you may have already voided your warranty. If that’s the case, then you may want to watch our new video and give repairing a try. Remember if you should attempt to repair your iPhone, this is all at your own risk and you would be voiding out your warranty. If you used the video to repair your phone, we’d love to hear about it.

Within hours of the iPhone 6 being released the guys at DirectFix got their hands on one and jumped right into doing and iphone 6 teardown on video. DirectFix let us know that they have posted their in depth 28 minute iphone 6 screen repair video and teardown on YouTube and its quite interesting to watch. Instead of simply seeing still photos of the guts of the iPhone 6 this HD video actually shows the steps needed to disassemble and reassemble the phone. The video shows you how to replace the screen, motherboard, battery and many other parts on the i6. They do note that the iPhone 6 is similar to the iPhone 5/5S/5C when it comes to the repair process. It’s also one of the easier iphone model phones that they have taken apart recently. Also remember that you are doing this at your own risk if you attempt it. Most manufactures will not warranty a broken screen so you may already have a voided warranty if you dropped the phone the first day you get it.

If you’ve ever broken your iPhone, Android device, or iPad you know how expensive it is to repair. A lot of times warranties and insurance plans that come with these devices only cover certain incidents or only last for a short period of time. That makes a broken device a major hassle and a serious expense. Nobody wants to pay the Apple Store or his or her local cell phone store to repair their device after it’s been cracked or smashed. Of course, how many of us will opt to go without a phone in lieu of paying high repair costs? I’d bet that it’s not many of us. Most of the time, if we have the funds available (and sometimes even when we really don’t) we’ll shell out the money to have our device repaired, despite the high costs.
What if there was an alternative; a less expensive route that would still end with your device being fixed? There’s always the option of going to a privately owned repair shop, most cities have at least a few of them. These repair shops are usually less expensive, but in some cases you run the risk of low quality parts or inexperienced techs. And, of course, you always run the risk of taking it to a place that simply doesn’t produce good results. Mostly, the problem with this option is that you can’t be sure how everything will turn out. In addition to the unknown factor, many of these places still charge pretty heft amounts to repair a device.
This Smart and Affordable Alternative
It might seem like there’s really no other options; either you spend the immense amount of money having the device repaired where you purchased it or you take the risk of having it repaired at a privately owned shop. What if you were able to fix your phone, tablet, or iPod yourself? All you’d have to do is purchase the parts and fix it on your own. You wouldn’t have to worry about the ridiculous amount of money you’d have to shell out at a certified store, or about the risk associated with a privately owned one. Believe it or not, there actually is a way you can repair your broken device yourself.
A company called Direct Fix is revolutionizing the way we handle our damaged devices. They offer a wide variety of replacement parts for iPhones, iPads, Android phones, iPods, and various tablets. I know what you’re thinking now, though: What about the tools you’d need to make a repair like that, and how will I know what to do? Obviously, not all of us have pre-cursory knowledge of the inner-workings of a mobile phone or tablet. Direct Fix has a simple solution. Along with the various replacement parts offered in their online store, they also offer tool kits and repair instructions.
So, next time your device breaks, all you have to do is go to www.directfix.com and find the replacement part you’re looking for, the tool kit that goes with your device, and the repair instructions you’ll need to complete the repairs. The website is easy to navigate with convenient drop-down menus that feature lists of devices, replacement parts, tool kits, and repair instructions. Just click on what you’re looking for and you’ll be taken to the correct page.
How Much Money will this Save?
This, of course, is the big question. I did some research to see just how much using Direct Fix would save you, and what I found was pretty amazing. Say you have an Apple iPhone 5, you drop it, and now the screen is shattered. If you were to take it to an Apple store, here’s what it would cost:
The price goes down a small amount for older devices, but the lowest price you’d pay is $149, and that’s if you still have the original iPhone.
What About Apple’s Warranty?
Apple devices are covered for one year after purchase under the Apple Warranty. However, this warranty does not cover accidental damages, only malfunction in software. So, basically, the only thing this warranty can really help you with is a defective phone, and that’s only during the first year.
How do Apple’s Prices Compare to Direct Fix?
Using the same hypothetical situation as before, here’s what you’d pay ordering parts and tools from Direct Fix in order to fix your iPhone 5 screen yourself.
Total Cost: $89.98
Since Direct Fix actually offers their repair instructions for free in the form of a step-by-step high-def video, all you’d have to purchase would be the replacement screen and tool kit. This is significantly cheaper than any of the options Apple offers for screen replacement or repair. I even looked up repair prices for other devices like Android phones or an iPad; I found that the price was around the same or higher than the repair costs for the replacement iPhone 5 screen.
Direct Fix has set up a pretty unique and amazingly affordable service. Fixing your own device will not only save you money, but will also teach you the basics of electronic device repairs. I don’t know about you, but I can’t see a downside to that. In the event that you just aren’t comfortable trying to repair your phone or tablet on your own, Direct Fix does have certified technicians available to repair your device for you. Amazingly, the price of a professional repair job from Direct Fix is nearly the same price you’d pay if you decided to buy the parts from them to do the repair yourself.

“I have an HTC One X that I recently ordered a screen from Direct Fix. I found that they were efficient and quick. My part was delivered within 2 days of ordering it. The part was bad and I contacted them immediately and they made it right. They gave me a full refund and only asked that I re-cycled the part instead of just throwing it in the trash.
After doing some more research regarding my phones screen I found out that the parts that are available to repair the phone in the market are just not good. So it is not the fault of Direct Fix as they do not produce the part…they are the distributor.
I really appreciate the quick professional manner in which they handled my situation and will definitely use them again in the futurs.”

We have been getting a lot of emails on this so here is the answer on why your lightning cable may not be working with your iPad 3/4. The standard usb power adapter that comes with your iPhone, iPod and iPad Mini will not work with the charger cable on your iPad 3rd and iPad 4th Generation. The adapter that came with your iPhone, iPod and iPad Mini is a 5W adapter and the iPad 3rd/4th Gen requires the original 10W adapter that came with it. If you use the 5w adapter with the charger or lightning cable it will not charge the iPad and will not show the charging symbol. Make sure you are using the correct iPad wall charger with the charger cable for the iPad 3/4 generation to resolve this issue.
