Since its arrival in 2007, we have been selling parts and accessories for the iPhone. One thing holds true from the past to present ‘Not all parts are created equal’. So what does that mean? Well, we get emails, messages, and posts on our Facebook wall or Youtube almost every day from individuals telling us how they found a part cheaper on Ebay, Amazon, Craigslist or some other website. It is plain and simple; you get what you pay for.

Sure, we receive daily emails from vendors that are willing to sell us cheap, junky parts at super low prices. We have been getting emails like this for years, even during the old days of PDAs. Could we buy these parts and sell them at super low prices so customers are happy about getting a repair part cheap? Certainly we could but when there is an issue, which will happen 99% of the time, with one of these cheap parts people will expect us to make good on it or they will go post negative comments about our company and the quality of our parts/service, and rightfully so; if we were to sell such parts. People that do sell these junky parts on random websites or college kids trying to make a buck on eBay do not have corporate backing, or reputation to uphold, or even care if you get a good product as long as they make money. We have even had cases in which individuals have contacted us saying they want a refund from the part they purchased from us on eBay only to discover -after some research- that they purchased the product from someone else but that seller sent them to our free video on YouTube.

So what makes DirectFix different from the person selling the cheap parts on eBay? We know the vendors we buy from. The president of the company has flown oversea on numerous occasions and met with the vendors who provide our products. He has gone to the factories and has a long-standing, personal relationship with many of the vendors. We only buy original parts, every part is tested before it is shipped to us, and then when the part arrives at our facility, we test it again to make sure there are no issues. Does that stop every part we ship out from being bad? No. Damage can still happen from our location to our customer’s location but we take pride in making sure the customer gets a quality part that will last them the life of their device.

If you just want to save money and take a chance at buying a discounted part from eBay that might last you a day or maybe a few weeks, then go ahead and buy from eBay. However, if you want to make sure the part you receive is quality and will last the remaining days of the device, then buy from a reputable company like DirectFix.com. We stand behind what we sell and make videos available for FREE to help people repair their devices.

Even though the Droid RAZR has been out a few weeks the guys at DirectFix.com got their hands on one and jumped right into tearing it down on video. DirectFix posted their own seven minute teardown and screen repair video for the Motorola Droid RAZR and its quite fun to watch. Instead of simply seeing the guts of the RAZR this video actually shows the steps needed to disassemble and reassemble the phone. The video shows you how to replace the LCD screen, motherboard and other parts on the unit. DirectFix notes that the RAZR is one of the easier Android units that they have taken apart recently. As always you are doing this at your own risk.

Motorola Droid RAZR Teardown

Morgan Hill, Calif. – October 14, 2011 – DirectFix, the leader in “Do It Yourself iPhone Repairs”, announced that within hours of the iPhone 4S being available to the public they have the replacement screens available for those that happen to drop and crack their screen the first day it is available. The iPhone 4S teardown & repair directions showing how to install and replace the iPhone 4S screen are available for free on their youtube channel (Here). The directions show step by step how to repair a broken iPhone 4S screen, battery and other parts. Just like in the past DirectFix was the first to carry parts for the iPhone 4S as soon as it was available. The iPhone 4S Replacement Screen will be available in both black and white for $99 at introduction. There is a limited supply of these available at this time. DirectFix is also offering a screen repair service for the iPhone 4S starting today for just $120 which includes all parts and labor. “We hope that people that purchased the new iPhone 4S enjoy it and take good care of it but accidents happen and when they do you can save money and fix the iPhone 4S screen yourself” says Robert Stanley, founder of DirectFix.com. “Just like in the past the manufactures charge an outrageous amount of money for a simple repair. By following our video direction you can save money with just a few minutes of work”, explains Mr. Stanley.

Just like the iPhone 4 the iPhone 4S will require you to replace the complete screen as one unit and you are not able to separate the LCD from the Touch Panel.

As reported by us and also reported on many news sites the iPhone 4S screen is nothing like the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. You are not able to separate the Touch Panel from the LCD and just replace the one broken part you need. The iPhone 4S Touch Panel and LCD are fused or adhered together just like the iPhone 4 in 2010 and original iPhone 2G from 2007. At the factory Apple has taken the LCD and Touch Panel and adhered it together so it is one complete screen which also allowed them to make the iPhone 4S thinner. Just because a part is available on Ebay for sale does not mean it is the correct part to fix your problem. This is the case with the iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S and many people on ebay are selling the iPhone 4 & 4S LCD and iPhone 4/4S Touch Panel part by themselves. We have sacrificed many iPhone 4/4S screens trying to figure out a way to get the touch panel and lcd to separate from one another without any damage. Every time we attempted to take it apart a part would be damaged and or not work properly once put back together. We understand that it is very tempting to want to save some money by purchasing the cheap part from a vendor on Ebay but after the hours you will spend trying to fix your phone just to find out that the part is not correct is not worth it. I also doubt that any of those Ebay sellers selling the wrong part is going to take it back so you will be stuck with a part that does not fix your issue and you still need to get the correct part.

Our advice is to just follow the directions we have listed at DirectFix.com and read the information that we have provided so you get the correct part the first time. This will save you time, money and a big head ache dealing with some kid or person that is just out to make a quick buck selling parts out of their bedroom on Ebay.

The proper part to repair a damaged screen for the iPhone 4S are as follows:

iPhone 4S Complete Screen in Black is Part Number IP-2504

iPhone 4S Complete Screen in White is Part Number IP-2504

Even though the Blackberry Bold 9900 is still a few weeks away from getting its release in the USA the guys at DirectFix.com got their hands on one and jumped right into tearing it down on video. DirectFix just posted on Youtube their own eight and a half minute teardown and screen repair video for the Blackberry Bold 9900 and its quite fun to watch. Instead of simply seeing the guts of the Bold 9900 this video actually shows the steps needed to disassemble and reassemble the phone. The video show you how to replace the LCD screen, motherboard and other parts on the 9900. They do note that the Bold is one of the easier Blackberry units that they have taken apart recently. Take a look at the video below.
