New iPhone 3GS Screen is Same as the iPhone 3G and not OLED (Organic light-emitting diode)
The new iPhone 3Gs has the same screen as the iPhone 3G except for a different connector. There were reports that the new iPhone would have an OLED (Organic light-emitting diode) and DirectFix.com sources have confirmed this is not true. The screen on the new iPhone will be the same size and have the same specs as the original iPhone 3G. There will also be a home button on the bottom of the screen again and sensors at the top for dimming the phone while you are talking on it. The new screen will not be compatible with the old one since the connectors on the new one for the LCD and digitizer are different. DirectFix.com will have all screen replacement parts available shortly after release in July and a free take apart video of the new iPhone 3GS available the day the phone is released.
Be sure to come back in July 2009 to see our complete take apart and repair guides on the New iPhone 3GS.
